YourTea (14 Day Tiny Teatox)

Hello there, so I've been feeling extra bloated and gloomy 24/7 lately, definitely no thanks to all the late nights and random binging sessions. I've been seeing a mirror image of Adventure Time's Lumpy Space Princess on and off and it was just naaaastyyyy...Thankfully, I discovered teatoxing on Instagram through Sheryl when she posted a picture of her YourTea, Tiny Tea. I decided to do some research and I discovered a ton of benefits just by teatoxing from their site.

So according to the YourTea site, their 14 day Tiny Tea, which is the one I tried, is
formulated with Chinese medicine herbs and based upon Chinese medicinal principles. TinyTea is the only herbal cleanse on the market that does not produce a laxative effect. TinyTea has been created by qualified Chinese Medicine practitioners with considerable years of experience.
It claims that the tea helps
nourish and cleanse your digestive system, providing it the support it needs to replenish and restore back to its natural state. This cleansing will assist with reducing weight, ease bloating, increase digestion functionality, improve skin clarity, increase energy levels and alleviate issues associated with food intolerances.
So this is how my 14 day Tiny Teatox went...

I ordered my tea from their site on the 28th of September and it arrived on the 2nd of October. The shipment was pretty fast for an overseas package.

The packaging is adorable, lots of cute notes here and there for more information on the product. The smell of the tea is really strong, I could smell it even in the midst of unboxing it. It smells like traditional Chinese medicine but not too bad. This tea comes with only 1 kind of tea to be taken 3 times daily, 30 minutes before your meals. The packaging comes with 42 tea bags tucked nicely into a cute cardboard box. It also comes with an accordion card that explains various types of teas that are sold on their site.

Ingredients : Camellia Sinensis, Catsia, Lotus Leaf, Barley, Tea, Prunella Spike and Adzuki Bean. The one ingredient missing that most teatox’s have is called Senna leaf or Senna root, which is used as a laxative and for bowel cleanse.

DAY 1

Woke up early and had my first cup of teatox 30 minutes prior to breakfast. My first thought was that it didn't have any taste at all! It smelled a lot like traditional Chinese herbal medicine but it tasted like water. The instructions tell you to let the tea bag infuse in hot water for about 5-7 minutes but I ended up infusing it for about 10 minutes, just to get all the extra goodies out. I felt nauseous after my cup of tea but it did state on the site that nausea is common for first timers so I didn't worry too much. I ended up burping a lot after I had my cup of tea and it even made me end up in the toilet 15 minutes after. After I sort of released most of the toxic out of my body, I felt a whole lot lighter and the nausea stopped. I felt more awake than I usually would have been at this hour.

DAY 1 - THOUGHTS

I'm feeling pretty good, it's only day 1 and I can feel the slight changes already. I can't wait to see where this takes me.

DAY 7

After a week of teatoxing, I am feeling pretty good. I'm starting to get used to the taste of the tea and I think the earthy smell & taste is pretty pleasant as well. I have been skipping a few doses due to busy schedules and the lack of hot water but since the instructions stated that if you miss a dose, you're not allowed to double it up the next time so all I try to do most of the time is to take it as constantly as I possibly can.

DAY 7 - THOUGHTS

I lost a kg and my stomach has obviously flattened. I feel less bloated and healthy because this tea makes me release all that toxic in me just with a snap of two fingers. 7 more days to go. I really hope that I am able to lose another kg after the whole course has ended. Fingers crossed!

DAY 14

Today is the last day of my teatox and I have noticed that my bloating has indeed went down. I've been carrying two sachets around in my purse everyday so that every time it's time for a dose I just sit myself down at a cafe or restaurant and get them to make the tea for me.

DAY 14 - THOUGHTS

I don't lose weight easily but I've managed to lose 2kg in 2 weeks. To others it might not be much but it is a big deal for me. I'm starting to miss the tea haha but I'm still contemplating on whether I should continue relying on it or start trying to fix my own system without the help of YourTea.

**The tea is slightly on the pricier side but it was honestly pretty worth it. It actually helped me lessen the bloat and detox. I think for $35 + $10 (?) shipping it was actually really worth the money. If you want to get updates on discounts and deals (which they have quite often), follow them on their official Instagram account (@yourtea on Instagram).

PROS

  • The packaging is small and compact, it's easy to hand carry it everywhere you go.
  • The taste isn't too strong. It tastes like Chinese tea.
  • It actually works if you strictly follow the program.
CONS

  • Not very convenient as you have to sit yourself down at a cafe/restaurant or find a hot water dispenser & cup whenever you need to drink it.
  • You have to take it 3 times a day and due to busy schedules it can be difficult to follow.
  • Since you have to take it half an hour before meals, you sometimes have to sit and wait while your food gets cold or while others are already eating.
DISCLAIMER

You cannot depend only on this to lose weight. You have to incorporate exercise and healthy living to see effective results. The tea is basically sort of a base for you to start and it enhances whatever you're doing right for more effective results.

Style It : Skorts

Skorts are crazy versatile. I especially love the so called "origami design" when it comes to these skirt-shorts. Skorts come in all kinds of colours and prints, I chose to style one in black because I thought it would be more versatile for an everyday outfit. I love how skorts make dressing up effortless because the design is so timeless. It's simple yet unique that even pairing it with a graphic tee would make you look like you spent a few hours trying to put the whole outfit together.

I paired my basic black skorts with a textured cropped sweater and one of my chunky slip ons. I made no effort to accessorise it because I was going for the minimalist. If you want to jazz things up, you can always pair it with a fancy sheer blouse and heels. For a more street look, a simple muscle tank and converse/sandals should do the trick. There are a ton of ways you can experiment on skorts so feel free to explore.

Fading Into Darkness

I did a shoot with Husaini the other day at an abandoned mansion in Bukit Damansara during the evening. He had this really cool ghostly concept that he wanted to try out. It has yet to be released so stay tuned! Anyway, these shots were just some portraits of me that he shot because we had some time before it turned dark. The place was super creepy but super cool too in my opinion. The mansion was huge! It was beautiful even though it was super worn out. It had "AKMI" engraved onto the main entrance floor of the mansion and pictures and burnt pages of books scattered all over in the main hall and the store room. I know curiosity tends to kill the cat but I can't help but want to know more about who lived in such a lavish mansion and the reason as to why they left...hmm. Anyone know the story?

It was honestly pretty creepy shooting at such a place especially when it started to turn dark and there were thunders and lighting, much like a horror movie set. I was so paranoid yet so interested to explore the place. I had fun tho, it was a really cool experience. I hope to do more of these shoots even tho I might get a heart attack in the midst of it.

Style It : Arm-Slit Cocktail Dress

I barely see arm-slit dresses in the market nowadays so I decided to bring it in to sell on HLG Atelier. I love this royal blue. I think it goes really well with the design of the dress. It is simple yet elegant and doesn't take much styling to make one stop and stare. I paired it with one of my favorite gold chain statement necklace and black platform heels. This cocktail dress is a show stopper and is perfect for formal social events. It comes in black & white too if you think monochrome is more suited to your style.

Arm-slit dresses in general are hard to find but if you're lucky you may find them in the usual FOREVER21, ZARA, TOPSHOP etc. I personally prefer plain and print-less cocktail dresses but if you're looking for some prints to make things more interesting, I've seen some in stores so explore a little before you get it.

Pantene Beautiful Lengths

Why, hello there

I'm sure you would have noticed the new hairdo by now....

Anyways, I've been meaning to donate my hair since the beginning of the year when I heard about Pantene Beautiful Lengths from a friend. She told me about her experience and briefed me about the procedures over tea. I have been growing my hair out since February and it never occurred to me that  it has been so long since then. It was definitely sooner than I expected and I was not mentally prepared for the cut at all. A few days ago, Sheng Wei and I went on a spontaneous date to the salon and I wasn't sure what got into me but I managed to suck it up and got them to cut it short.

To make the cut, your hair must be at least 8 inches long. And before you cut you hair, you have to tie the top and tip of your hair so that it'll be in tact after you cut it.

BEFORE

WELL, AFTER...
I SWEAR I SAID 8 INCHES BUT THAT'S PROBABLY 12...

Anyways, after all that jazz you basically have to make sure the hair you chopped off is completely dry and ready to be packed in a zip lock bag. When it is all set to go, post it out to the address given on their site and voila ~ you MADE THE CUT!!! (jks, you just donated your hair)

**If you're planning to do the same, head over to their site to find out more :) Pantene Beautiful Lengths
